The Boston that Donald Stoltenberg loved was filled with geometry. Rooftops, spires, bridges, and the interior of a demolished opera house all provide subjects for his exploration of light, shadow, and engineering wonders. The work included in this exhibition have been selected from the Permanent Collection.

Through a diverse body of work spanning multiple mediums and themes, Mia Cross explores color, the human figure, and narrative. Her oil paintings, and in particular her portraiture, demonstrate a fixed fascination with pattern and skin. When painting, Cross pays special care to creating engaging color relationships, sometimes harmonious and sometimes dissonant.

The Aftermath sculpture (2021) is a large-scale multi-media sculpture and art advocacy collaboration about the global impacts of textile pollution created by developmental psychologist Dr. Julia DeVoy, public health researcher Dielle Lundberg, fashion designer and environmental educator Matilda Lartey, internationally recognized artist Mark Cooper, and STEAM education researcher Dr.Brian Smith in collaboration with The Aftermath Learning Lab and community partners in the U.S. and Ghana.

I am a self-taught artist. Inspired by my African heritage which uses fabrics to tell stories and memorialize events, I weave together stories that link people of African descent across its diasporas.

In 1976, I moved to New York and quickly became part of the downtown and early Dumbo art scenes. I had plenty of space to work in my loft, and exhibited drawings and paintings in group and solo shows. Then I took a detour that ultimately led me to the process that underlies my current work.

Mark Young's collection represents the span of a life's work of a local Bridgewater self-taught craftsman and artist who worked outside the art world. Mark was a ceaseless explorer of medium and form and style, whose work encompassed everything from watercolor to copper welding in the pursuit of his artistic expression.
ReadFor over twenty years the Massachusetts Hall of Black Achievement (HOBA) discovered, detailed and disclosed the significant achievements and contributions of African Americans, Cape Verdeans, and Hispanics of African descent who made significant contributions to the Commonwealth.
ReadGreg and Fay Wyatt Sculpture Garden
The Greg and Fay Wyatt Sculpture Garden, located on the eastern side of Maxwell Library iscomplete. A dozen new sculptures by Mr. Wyatt have been added, courtesy of the Newington-Cropsey Foundation. They surround a large sculpture of the ballet legend and actor Mikhail Barysnikkov created Mr. Wyatt and installed in 2017. It was also donated to BSU by the foundation.
