This series of digital photographic collages is comprised from forty images created while at the Cape Verdean International & Cultural Exchange Residency (C.I.C.E.R.) artist-in-residency program in Assomada, Cape Verde in 2008. These imaginary landscapes were made daily in response to an intense visual and aural cultural exchange. They integrate visual realities, with my North and Latin American perception and interpretation of an African-Portuguese culture. The four triptychs re-arrange the real posing questions and critiquing urban development, cultural colonization, the societal role of women, men, and children, while also paying homage to the still intact sense of magic and imagination.
